The Power of Vulnerability

Emotional impact is one of the most powerful, compelling triggers out there. People remember how you make them feel.

How does that help your business book?

Marketing campaigns that tug at the heartstrings are very effective. Nostalgia, for example, can be quite persuasive.

Why else would Pokemon and Harry Potter be resurging in markets now that millennials make up most of the consumer base? Why do grocery stores play music that charted in the 90s and early 2000s?

It’s a common misconception in business books that information is what drives the book.

It’s not.

The story drives it: the emotional impact and connecting with the author (you).

If you make yourself vulnerable, as the face of your company, you bring an emotional, human touch to your product or service that will resonate across markets.

Being vulnerable isn’t easy but it is powerful.

We are constantly bombarded by misinformation and posturing. Social media is the perfect place to make people see an illusion of perfection.

But what’s behind the screen?

There’s been a sweeping call for authenticity from creators, influencers, and businesspeople in the public eye.

When you write a book, you have the chance to get vulnerable, be authentic, put yourself on the page, and connect with your audience on an emotional level.

It will have a far greater impact than facts and information.
