Where Does the Money go in Ghostwriting?

What Are you Paying for?

Book writing pricing is based on quality and experience.

That’s the expectation when paying $30,000 + to get your book written.

The only problem is, with some services, what you’re paying for isn’t what you’re getting.

I think it is important for everyone to know where their money is going.

When people decide to work with a ghostwriting and self-publishing service, they are usually doing it because they need the company’s industry knowledge.

They turn to the experts for guidance.

They trust services like Forbes, Kevin & Anderson, and Scribe Media to put their money to good use.

Sadly, this is rarely the case with full service writing companies.

Most of these services have a base price of about $30,000 for ghostwriting (sometimes more). That is right in the price range of an experienced, talented ghostwriter.

However, these services tend to contract the work out to freelancers. Those freelancers might see between $8,000 and $12,000 for writing your book.

Half, or more, of that money goes to paying in-house salaries for people who barely touch your project and paying other business expenses.

While it is a brilliant business strategy, it only ends up hurting your book.

These companies can charge premium book writing prices but save money by outsourcing to inexperienced ghostwriters.

You’re paying high quality writing prices and getting inexperienced writers.

Some of these writers are incredibly talented but they are often unproven, don’t have a process, or don’t have a lot of book writing experience.

A full service company might seem like an easy sell if you don’t know how the system works.

Working with an independent ghostwriter is the best way to make the most of your money.

Most Independent ghostwriters:

  • Know their worth
  • Have book writing experience
  • Are proven in the ghostwriting field
  • Have a refined book writing process
  • Are professional and responsive

Make sure you’re getting the best quality work for the price you’re willing to pay for book ghostwriting.
