“My story doesn’t matter.” “No one will read my book.” “No one will care what I have to say.” “I don’t have a lot of unique experiences.” “I don’t think I have a book in me.”

These are the common thoughts leading to Book Writer’s Block.

One of my clients came to me last summer with a new book idea.

We were both really excited about it and had a couple of brainstorming calls to start piecing this idea together.

Then life got busy.

We reconnected after the holidays and had another great brainstorming session. He even came up with a title for the book.

But when we talked about starting the project and writing it, he said, “I don’t know if there’s a whole book here.”

I had a face palm moment, but I let it pass.

Here’s a brilliant guy who’s already authored one book, has a fully developed idea and title for a second book, and he’s running up against this wall.

Book Writer’s Block.

Not to be confused with writer’s block.

I’m confident he will get around to authoring this new book idea, and I’m happy to keep brainstorming with him until he’s ready.

Several prospective and returning clients encounter book writer’s block.

Sometimes it takes one or two chats before the block is overcome.

At other times, there’s more foundational work to do before a client is ready to move forward.

I’m here to remind anyone with book writer’s block:

• Everyone has a story to tell
• You never know who will be inspired by your story
• If you never get started, your book will never get written
• The only way to fail is if you don’t try
