
Business book opportunities such as speaking engagements, consulting and coaching, and workshops and courses are easily quantifiable in numbers and revenue.
But what about the opportunities that aren’t easily quantifiable?
Everyone likes the numbers, so I default to quantifiable opportunities, but they aren’t the only ones.
Business books can:
- Attract investors
- Connect you with partners
- Inspire new business ideas
Can I easily quantify an average number of investors and the amount they are willing to invest based off the success of your business book?
No. Not in the same way I could for speaking engagements, consulting, courses, etc.
The same is true with connecting you with partners and inspiring new business ideas.
That doesn’t mean these opportunities are less important or less lucrative.
One author I worked with was a partner (often silent) in over 23 companies. He acted as a silent partner to help the company launch.
People came to him all the time with their business ideas, wanting to partner with him, and he helped them get off the ground and make their companies a success.
This client was making over a million dollars a year in passive income from the businesses he partnered in.
So, I can’t break them down into ROI, numbers, or averages.
However, when you author a book and become an expert leader in your industry, additional opportunities will seek you out.
During a chat with a prospective client, he outright said he wouldn’t do speaking engagements because he hated travel and he already offered courses and coaching and his social media following was all the credibility he needed.
He decided a book wasn’t worth it because he overlooked the potential of the harder to quantify benefits and business opportunities he turned down.
There are many paths to success, brand development, and business growth with a business book.
